Artist Statement

As a New Hampshire artist from the Lake Sunapee area, my approach is mainly representational and I am captivated by the impression of light and color in the landscape. That is what drives my inspiration to paint. I enjoy painting the timeless landscapes of area lakes, lighthouses, mountains, barns, farm and fields, and especially the “iconic scenes” around Lake Sunapee.

I studied fine art in college and after a career in graphic arts, I am now retired and spend much time at my easel painting landscapes using various media, but primarily oils and watercolors. I am always on a quest to experiment and try new mediums for my landscapes. I have studied with several local artists, including Grace Cooper and Ron Brown.

My paintings are exhibited locally at the Naturally New England show in Sunapee Harbor in the summer, at the Center for the Arts in New London, the Library Arts Center in Newport, and at Tatewell Gallery in New London.
